Pruritus ani (anal itching)

Pruritus ani is a condition the skin around the anal canal feels very itchy, so the sufferer scratches it. This condition makes you feel uncomfortable, as well as causing wounds from scratching.


Factors that cause itching in the anus to get worse :
  • Hot conditions.
  • oist.
  • Wet around the anus.
  • There is stool residue on the skin around the anus.
  • Stress and anxiety.

Complications due to constantly scratching the skin around the anus :
  • Skin irritation and cuts.
  • Thickening of the skin around the anus.
  • Infection.

Symptoms.
Symptoms of anal itching can be accompanied by :
  • Redness.
  • Feel hot.
  • Pain in the skin around the anus.
  • Irritation.
Immediately go to the hospital if you experience symptoms :
  • Bleeding or discharge such as mucus from the anus.
  • Lumps around the anus.
  • Changes in bowel pattern.
Cause.
  • Too often or rarely clean the anal skin.
  • Using unsuitable skin cleaning products.
  • Sexually transmitted infections.
  • Yeast and pinworm infections.
  • Skin disease.
  • Psoriasis and contact dermatitis.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Hemorrhoids.
  • Anal tumor.
  • Diabetes.
  • Foods that can irritate the anus.
  • The use of antibiotic drugs that can interfere with good bacteria (normal flora) in the intestine. The antibiotics are erythromycin and tetracyclin.
Diagnosis.
  • Medical history.
  • The patient's life habits.
  • Physical examination of the anus.
  • Examination of the patient's stool sample in the laboratory.
  • Anoscopy to see the condition of the inside of the anus.
Treatment.
  • Treatment is based on the cause.
  • Antihistamines are given if the itching gets worse at night.
  • Corticosteroid creams are used if contact dermatitis is present.
  • Anti-fungal creams are used if there is a yeast infection.
In addition to treatment, sufferers are also advised not to scratch the area around the anus even though it feels itchy, scratching will make irritation worse.

Prevention.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the anal area and personal hygiene.
  • Do not use soap and wet wipes that contain fragrances to clean the anal area.
  • Do not use powder in the anal area.
  • Use cotton pants and change pants every day.
  • Do not use pants that are too tight so that the anus is not damp.
  • Consume yogurt to normalize the condition in the intestines if the patient is on antibiotics.

Pernahkah anda mendengar istilah kista Bartholin? Kista Bartholin merupakan benjolan yang tumbuh pada lipatan bibir vagina akibat penyumbatan saluran kelenjar Bartholin. Kelenjar Bartholin terletak di seluruh sisi dinding vagina yang berfungsi mengeluarkan cairan untuk membantu melumaskan vagina saat berhubungan seksual. Kasus medis gatal dan panas di leher (Dermatitis Venenata)

Penjelasan kasus. Seorang wanita usia 40 tahun, ibu rumah tangga sehari-hari menggunakan jilbab datang dengan keluhan sebagai berikut : Muncul plenting di kulit leher sejak 3 minggu (plenting yang dimaksud adalah vesikel-bula). Plenting terasa gatal dan panas. Oleh dokter dikatakan pasien mengalami herpes. Sudah diberi acyclovir zaft dan acyclovir tab, obat sudah habis namun tidak sembuh. Diagnosis medis : Lesi hanya soliter dan terbatas pada 1 regional saja, menurut saya ini bukan herpes. Herpes tidak tepat diberikan acyclovir cream untuk kasus herpes zoster. Dari anamnesis dan gambaran dermatologi, pasien menderita Dermatitis Venenata. Terapi yang diberikan : Tes Kalium hidroksida (KOH) 10% dan lampu wood. Metilprednisolon tab 3 x 4 mg. Natrium diklofenak tab 3 x 50 mg prn. Cetirizine tab 1 x 10 mg prn. Digenta cream 2 x 1 ue. Kontrol kembali 5 hari kemudian.
